We've been trying to think of ideas for hand held gimbal platforms to get smooth motion. I just did some shots on inline roller skates, if comes out really smooth. This was the first time I tried and I think using easy rig and skates would be even better.
i think you are good to go and make the tv world a little bit smoother ... im thinking of learning also to roller skate ... :) im now developing a car mount system, fast and easy with 3 suction holders wich hold the gimbal but stil to much vibration translated in the image. going to try use some pillows and rubber dampeners ...
Just did a new video where we are experimenting with platforms for usage with the gimbal. In this case we are shooting on a rough boardwalk...but were able to use a technique to remove the walking motion. There are a couple hand held walking shots, but most is this new device. Can you quess?
I couldn't use the camera sound because it was "bam bam bam bam bam..." the tube tires were silent but the hard rubber wheels were loud on the boardwalk.
Im going to use your video tomorrow on a big exibition in belgium, its a 2 days exibition where every cameraman of belgium will be present , i have to represent my product and so i can show what our gimbals are capable of ( landscapes at your home are a little bit more nicer as also your actrice :) )
dbeaty you have to pull the cart from the whells level...so you don´t have more leverages involved. The strength has to be absolutely paralel to the surface of the cart. If you do that the movement will be very smooth.
