RC Angle mode Madness
  • Hi all,

I'm trying to tune my gimbal for RC operation in angle and not speed mode. The behaviour I get is driving me nuts: If follow mode is disabled(which is required in the type of shots I want to do) the gimbal's response is quite slow, requiring a few seconds to go from one end to the other(say 180 degs) no matter how fast I move the sticks on the remote. I've tried many different settings(mostly the PIDs) without any dramatic change.

Here's where it gets interesting: If follow mode is enabled the response is almost realtime, or if there is lag it's negligible, even in extreme velocity cases. Since in this case motors don't lose steps, I know my power settings are where they should be, or in any way, motors are strong enough to perform the task.

How can I get this performance with follow mode disabled?

    Firmware is 2.43 b9, motors 8017-120, on a custom made 3.5kg gimbal.
