I have been wanting a gimbal for over a year now and have saved up enough for one. Want it for Uni next year were I am doing film production so I think this will help a lot with getting nice steady motion (something I like).
So I saved up a lot but also need to buy a new lens or that lush Sony A7s so I am going to have to skimp on the gimbal :/
Thinking of this as my setup; Alexmos BaseCam 3axis 32bit BGC Board (with BT) Trying to find a seller without 1 month shipping, these guys apparently have 1-2 week postage, are they legit? Quite like it in the enclosure! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271574575187
I have ordered 3 Alexmos boards from RCTimer with no problems at all, the latest 32bit is doing well, I got it with the aluminium enclosure, very nice. Postage was always reliable and price is good. I have the combo Legacy Gimbal and board. I have been running it since last year. Blew one 8bit board through stupidity, otherwise no probs.
Not sure which camera you use but I have the Turnigy Gimbal and a 7D. I needed http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__53946__Turnigy_LD9017_Brushless_Gimbal_Motor.html for Roll because it didn't move a bit no matter how high I turned the power and balanced it. Additionally I used one of these on Yaw because all the weight is hanging on it and after the Roll motor "fail" I didn't trust the 5208 anymore. However for Pitch they are fine. Read my comments on Hobbyking if you want more info. Username "Manuel". Can you post the Legacy gimbal pls?
I have the Canon 5D MkII with 24-70 lens, heavy setup, all working well with stock motors that come with the Legacy. I only have one issue which isn't affecting performance but on the roll motor as it holds a lot of weight the motor bearing moves slightly so the motor casing opens up about a mil across the upper part of the motor under the load.
Hmm well I have found this on aliexpress, looks very much the same but has a better mount for the camera. Overall would be only a bit cheaper but that mounting option looks a lot better for the camera.
I have the Turnigy handheld gimbal, but don't care for the camera plate. Also the turnigy gimbal is a pain to balance because of the placement of screws. I purchased the rctimer legacy with the alexmos 32 bit controller and have it working very well with my new A7s. I will be selling the turnigy rig.
