When I connect the GC it just gives a red light..

What are the proper steps tonfladh the hex? The light stays solid red. I did not think just to load firmware you would need yo connect motors and a external battery but if I do please tell me the steps...

I am not sure if I got a bad board however it shows up as a property silicon com port...

Any help will be much appriciated
