Does anyone have the serial interface working with firmware v2.42 b7?

We are trying to get the serial interface working with the 32-bit board and firmware version 2.42 b7. When running the sample code located at the following link, Demo 5 (Trigger mode) works, but the other demos for Command mode do not.

Has anyone had success with the serial API and the latest firmware (2.42 b7)?
