Switch on/off motors via Mavlink

Hi everyone, I have a very straightforward question:

is it possible to switch on and off the motors via mavlink command?
(maybe using the MAV_CMD_PREFLIGHT_REBOOT_SHUTDOWN giving the component ID=154)

Or I am forced to use the Serial API....
