Has anyone made gimbal geometry where the all three axis of rotation intersect at a common point?
  • Has anyone made gimbal geometry where the all three axis of rotation intersect at a common point?

I need the camera rotation to be completely contained within a sphere because of contact against an external surface.
  • What a problem? Just add a counterweights if you do not want to shift the axes to balance system.
  • Just wanted to make sure before I get started if there would be any problems inherently in a system with all three axes having a coincident point. The math should be tolerant of this setup? I shouldnt run into anything like Gimbal lock where I would end up with a degenerate axis?
  • No problem if all axes are crossed.
Gimbal lock occures if all 3 axes are coplanar, or two of them are close to parallel.
