2nd IMU above Yaw Motor
  • because of achieving much more resolution in yaw axis by Frame IMU Position above Yaw Motor i am asking following question :
    Manual says
///system becomes less stable during long work (because the frame heading, estimated from the second
IMU, may drift with time and auto-correction may not work in all cases). ///

What doe he mean whith long work? 10 minutes? which cases?
I want to do aerial shots - what whats happening after long work?

  • Answer from Alex :

All depend on gyro calibration quality. 10 minutes is big enough time to have up to 10 degrees of drift, and it may increase in case of vibration, temperature changes. But from other hands 10degre drift for camera IMU is not big problem.

There is an auto-correction of such drift is present in my system, that work only if frame makes even small movements. For aerial work its true, so auto-correction may help.

Many words, better to make a try :)
  • I tried 2nd IMU Above Yaw and found out it helps Yaw axis. But when you turn arround in non follow mode just once Pitch and Roll Axis loosing resolution. (more than 0.12 degrees error)
I am thinking about changing back to IMU below YAW.
