proper use of FRAME_HEADING_ANGLE
Garug, I have not found analog encoders that have a pass-through which is needed for our design... The documentation indicates that this value can be set by manual to identify a static frame azimuth. Alex, Is FRAME_HEADING_ANGLE implemented per th…

Potentiometer for Yaw
I have atm203 encoders but I cannot add to only the yaw, it requires all or none, that adds $150+$40 to the cost of the device which is too much. having the ability to add an analog encoder to yaw in the base software would be ideal. I'm going…

so, If I add a yaw potentiometer and programmatically move the gimbal (via api) the change in yaw position will cause the potentiometer to provide input to the rc channels thus correcting the movement back to zero. that does not sound like it will …

Potentiometer for Yaw
this sounds like a good fix for follow mode stability BUT, will using a yaw potentiometer help prevent yaw drift when not in follow mode?

CMD_READ_PARAMS_EXT and offset values using v2.55b api?
this is the discrepancy I see in the returned data. below I have mapped (based on documented data types) of returned values. there is a gap in the middle of the returned values that contains undefined bytes of data... any insight would be helpful. t…

That was my thought, after re-reading the claims several times, it sounds like it is fundamentally describing the "Rotatably coupled 3-Axis" design of a stabilized gimbal. including sensors to calculate angle, very abstract. "a firs…

Magnetometer tuning, results
solved by moved the magnetometer, running in upside-down mode (as my device does) placed the sensor to close to the yaw motor.

turning follow mode on did not have any effect. one thing I notice in follow mode, the first time I send a cmd set angle, follow does not work. I think the api overrides follow mode.

can voltage compensation cause fluxuation in motor current impacting magnetic interference? I would think that would be a more linear distortion pattern if that were the case.

Magnetometer tuning, results
I plan to try recalibrating the magnetometer at the location and setting the mag-declination(not sure if this will make a difference). edit: recalibrated and dropped mag_trust to 75 with similar results to the first video. fyi, found a easy site t…

note: in both videos the yaw movement is the only axis that is not moving correctly. pitch and roll movements are as planned is it possible that it may be necessary to calibrate the magnetometer at each location prior to a long shoot?

its a multi-function gimbal, it is setup in non-follow mode for this type of shooting. do you think this could be related to the magnetometer calibration? or the way that it integrates the mag trust into the position? after all, it is a beta featur…

Magnetometer Trust
another question, how does Mag trust play in with gyro trust? for example, if im using my gimbal in a context that is beneficial to have magnetometor to prevent drift, (lets say for timelapse movements) and my gimbal is tuned to trust mag=100, what …

Magnetometer Trust
btw, I use fast I2C, (my gimbal seems to perform better) my IMU wires are all shielded, I have no I2C errors. The magnetometer seems to support the high speed I2C. however, I did notice the magnetometer error level would slowly rise when gimbal is …

cause of very slow yaw drift?
thank you for the Magnetometer feature, I am waiting for my chips to arrive... this sounds like it will resolve the inherent gyro drift issue for my primary usage scenario.

roll & pitch follow is inverted when in upside-down mode
you were right! pitch needed to be set to inverted. when performing motor auto process in the past I have had ambiguous results, in which one time pitch was set as inverted and the next time it was not. needless to say, I have tuned the gimbal wit…

roll & pitch follow is inverted when in upside-down mode
I cant think of anything else to try... in both normal and upside-down mode the pitch follow is inverted, meaning when i tilt up it pitches down and when i tilt down it pitches up. if I tilt too hard it pitches a full 90 degrees and goes into lock …

roll & pitch follow is inverted when in upside-down mode
it seems to be mostly the pitch that is affected. I have a frame imu (above yaw) I am using the Follow PITCH,ROLL follow mode @ 15deg for both. estimate frame angles from motors is disabled.

cause of very slow yaw drift?
is gyro temperature calibration stored uniquely for frame and camera IMU? Meaning that, if during usage, if the camera IMU is in the shade and the Frame IMU is in the sun and the frame IMU heats but the Camera IMU does not, will it compensate for t…

self excitation on api moves?
I think I found a flaw (unsure if its in my logic or BGC) my timelapse logic allows you to move the gimbal to a start-point, then to and end-point. I retrieve angles from the controller at both points. when performing the timelapse I interpolate (tw…
