This is a large CF hand held rig for full sensor DSLR's
Yes it's down, if you know anything about Wordpress sites, it just died this morning I did not change anything. I have a support request in to the hosting provider, but I don't know that much about Wordpress to figure it out. If you know h…

Thanks, it's been a learning experience for myself as well. Many people have helped me as well. When I started, on DIYDrones they allowed blogs on hand held gimbals, but then they started censoring my info as not being of interest to the DIYDro…

That is true there are some no name Chinese AlexMos boards that people have emailed me about that they could not flash. Best to get a board from a reputable website, then you know it's coming from a good manufacturer. Look in the links here Whe…

I know there are 3-4 manufacturers and they are not all the same quality. The Armenian looks like it's shipping for 329 http://www.armbgc.com/armbgc-v-4-0-32-bit-alexmos/

Follow speed
Hi, Try one of the Chinese made macro base plates that allow forward back adjustments. The Manfrotto is too big, but the others are not to much additional weight. Then you simply can set the neutral balance on the camera plate. I got one for $15.

V2.4 erratic
I found that going to FW 2.4b is like starting over as the previous values no longer work. I threw in the fact that I am balancing for a new 24-105 IS lens and new adjustable macro photography base plate that allows the forward aft adjustment of bal…

Selecting gimbal motors
For those that are considering getting bigger motors, I got this from Neil Whiteley who already did: >>Little tip for you. DON'T use GBM8028-90T motors. These motors have amazing torque and look sick but they have substantial cogging. Th…

High sound on my alex moss board.
It's for people who have played in rock and roll bands professionally back before hearing protection and can't hear that frequency.

Is it possible to restore SimpleBGC after playing with custom firmware?
I flashed to a previous firmware one time using the COM port utilities and 2.2b which cannot be flashed from SimpleBGC UI, and it was very difficult to get the board to work. I had to reflash about 4-5 times until finally the lights came back to nor…

Which controller?
Flyduino controllers are nice. That's what I have. There is a list of manufacturers here, I am sure they all make good 2 axis boards. If you stick to these Basecam is linking too, I am sure they would work.

Yaw axis calibration
Hi, I always use joystick on power on to set YAW and PITCH, then switch to FOLLOW. Seems to keep the last joystick setting and then go. If angles get too off, I just repeat.

Problems with tuning big DSLR gimbal (strange motor noise, can't keep up with fast movements etc...)
I've had these problems at extreme limits of pitch. I just avoid getting into those angles. For most production work I do, I'm gentle with the gimbal and letting it fly me, rather than forcing it rapidly, which results in instability. So f…

During Gyro calibration, IMU must be absolutely immobile. Orientation is not important. Sometimes I have bad gyro cal on power up because pushing the on off switch causes the gimbal to jiggle on the stand long enough to still be moving when calibrat…

Using hand held gimbal platforms for motion - dollys, vehicles, skates
Everyone knew you would guess it correctly Kikojiu. Almost all of the frontal shots were done on the cart with Easy Rig. The from behind shots were hand held. I have one of these: http://www.filmtools.com/gripdept/gemjunmagcar.html and this: http…

Using hand held gimbal platforms for motion - dollys, vehicles, skates
Just did a new video where we are experimenting with platforms for usage with the gimbal. In this case we are shooting on a rough boardwalk...but were able to use a technique to remove the walking motion. There are a couple hand held walking shots,…

Board type and info for joystick
It's Not AlexMos unless you are a beta tester, AFAIK these are two motor only at this point. Check basecam electronics for dealers. You can use 2 AlexMos boards for 3 axi or one board and the 3rd axis expansion board for the 3rd axis, which is …

Exactly, and Mr. Brown has done this with the Steadicam isoeleastic arm and patented it. So the problem is simply either using a passive system to counter act human locomotion, or an active system. Voltage requirements are so small it's not ev…

I think it need to be worked on in some way perhaps the ultimate answer is using the rigs upside down with the yaw motor connected to a bearing on the Steadicam isoelastic arm mounting pin, then you have the gimbal CG on the pin, and the arm taking …

Follow Mode in 2.3B5
