I set below 0.01?
stpfl - mine is hand held. no vibrations at all. I would like to use value below 0.01 if it was possible. the weird thing is the the better balanced the gimbal is the worse is the result. I just got omd em5 and I put it on the gimbal without bother…

I set below 0.01?
Garug. I use the latest firmware, sorry there was a mistake in my post. I do have legitimate board. the gimbal is not great. manufacturer claims that it was designed for my camera but if feels too small. Also I had to fix it to have correct right a…

Strange irregular Vibrations
by any means I'm not an expert. I had similar problems when I pushed too much power to my motors. Since I lowered power I do not get shakes like that at all but my system probably wouldn't be able to handle much winds...

better higher power or P?
that makes sense but how do you know the right voltage (power) for a motor? how do you test it? this is one parameter I have no idea how to set and it has huge impact on the gimbal behaviour. considering it is the starting point there should be some…

tweaking gimbal - opinion needed
I tried with higher I 0.02 and 0.03 before and it was very jittery (rolling-shutter etc). Couldn't get any acceptable footage with it. D values are already pushing the limits - if the gimbal is perfectly balanced the motors resonate with my cur…

vibration
my motors vibrate/resonate when I have gimbal perfectly balanced. if I move a camera a bit to add some little strain on them they are fine. also they resonate when they have too much power. did you try some low values? and I has to be tiny = 0.01

walking test 3 axis gimbal (shake troubleshooting)
@Teo as far a I know high sensitivity is just a multiplier 2x. So with it turned off you need to scale all values by 2 (not the power though, just PID)

basic help to tuning
@powerjosl my rctimer doesn't have the hole problem described in the video (they probably updated their design since). Yours on the video looks very similar if not identical. The principles of tuning will be the same for such similarly constru…

Selecting gimbal motors
@kikojiu. thanks. didn't know about that. My motors buzz/vibrate with any combination of P/D if I go up. especially with higher power. I took a scientific approach and just tried lots of combinations keeping track of them in a big spreadsheet. …

basic help to tuning
I have the rc timer one and what i found is that the arm that holds pitch motor is not made precisly enough. On the joint (with thumb screw) there is some play and it is easy to have pitch and roll axis not intersecting in the COG. I had to adjust t…

Selecting gimbal motors
After a lot of tweaking I found that I have to set power to around 70-80 in the GUI to get the best footage. Will switching to 4s change anything in that case? If I use more power the gimbal is much more stable when stationary but I get lots of jit…

Selecting gimbal motors
this is great info guys. I have been straggling to get gimbal for GH1 with a heavy lens (together around 900g) working properly and I thought my 5010 motors were not powerful enough. Now I know the problem is in the numbers not in the hardware. Back…

@powerjosl I'm struggling with almost identical frame to yours at the moment. Mine is all aluminium and I suspect it is not sturdy enough for the weight of my GH1 with a heavier lens (together around 800 grams). What motors do you have? Also I …

Firmware 2.4 woes
I spent a week trying different combinations of PID and wasn't able to get my gimbal to work. Usually I had lots of small jitters resulting in crazy rolling shutter artefects. Tried 2.3 last night and the gmbal is almost good. I think my proble…

firmawre 2.4 GUI doesn't save PID values to files

motor makes noise with higher D/pitch shakes
@Garug that's a good call. I will suspend it on some rubber bands to simulate having it hand held. I noticed it behaves differently when it is rigiditly attached vs hand held. I'm starting over tonight with a bit better understanding of wh…

motor makes noise with higher D/pitch shakes
thanks. in my case camera with the lens is longer than it is wide. So as far as I understand the setup my PITCH has to work harder (inertia) than ROLL. that's why I had higher settings for it. Your suggestion is the opposite.

firmawre 2.4 GUI doesn't save PID values to files
it writes values to the board ok. it doesn't write correct values to preset files that can be loaded back (top upper corner of GUI - load/save buttons). In my case all the files written at different times during tuning have the same values sto…

motor makes noise with higher D/pitch shakes
thanks kikojiu!! i will try that. I remember that with higher D on roll (which is perfectly stable now) I get gimbal going completely crazy but I need to test it again once I get back home. is the noise from the motor normal? is that the high frequ…
