I am thinking of redesigning and machining some new parts for my gimbal to make it more practical.
Attaching the yaw motor directly to the camera tray and having the pitch on the handles seems like a more practical layout, like the Letus Helix design. The advantages are you can put it down without a stand and it won't flop around so much when tightening screws while trying to set the balance.

But is there any reason why this would be a bad idea ? Is the alexmos software going to get confused if the yaw axis of the camera IMU gets rotated out of plane with the pitch and roll corections ?
