Buying a kit or sourcing my parts?

My budget only allows for the cheapest of gimbals. I was looking at this kit,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ipower-3-Axis-DSLR-Handle-Carbon-Brushless-Gimbal-w-32-bit-Controller-joystick-/141486936519
and it seems ok but I don't trust the suppler to be using a genuine alexmos board as they claim. So my first question is, does it matter?
My second question is, it seems like I could get the frame only,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Axis-DSLR-Camera-Carbon-Brushless-Gimbal-Handle-Stabilized-Mount-steadycam-fra-/131152468251?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e894bd91b
and then source my own alexmos board from a US vendor as well as Turnigy motors,
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__45369__Turnigy_HD_5208_Brushless_Gimbal_Motor_BLDC_.html
for almost the same price as the kit.
Would this be a better way to go about it? Are the Turnigy motors an improvement over the stock motors? Because they also offer a frame/motor combo that would allow me to only need to get a controller board,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Axis-DSLR-Brushless-Gimbal-Carbon-Fiber-Handle-Camera-Mount-w-Motors-Movie-/151644406269?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item234eb601fd
All in all, which is the best way to go about this? Thanks
