I2C errors going crazy!
  • Hey everyone,
    I have a YUN3xs gimbal controller that I am using on a NEX5/7 gimbal.

When I first connect everything it looks fine but once the controller boots the I2C errors reach 40,000 within a few seconds.

    The setup:
    3s 2200mah

    Things I have tried:

USB power only, No motors connected, IMU mounted to table

Battery Power, No motors connected, IMU mounted to table

USB power only, motors connected, IMU on gimbal

Battery power, motors connected, IMU on gimbal

USB power only, no motors connected, IMU cable shortened

Changed firmware from 2.3 to 2.4

    tried every "auto" option

    Calibrated ACC multiple times

    Calibrated gyro's

    am I missing something?

    Chris
  • Sounds like broken IMU or IMU cable. what does the real time display show?
  • It shows a few spikes but no actual response, If i tilt tap, or moce the IMU at all it doesn't move. If power the controller without the IMU it correctly states that the IMU is missing though.

Ill try a new cable first and then see If i can source a IMU in the USA.
  • Could be also worth testing a different location. Could be that there is some electrical noise source where you are testing now. The noise source could also be the computer..

But this is not very likely reason for your problems.

gently pulling and visually inspecting should reveal if the cable is broken. Sometimes just disconnecting and connecting the connectors helps.
  • ya, my other gimbals work in the same location with no problems.

Ill try the cable and then the new IMU. I hope its just the cable :D
  • Found the issue...
I replaced the controller board and all is well. something was just wrong with the main board.
