Bluetooth joystick for Basecam gimbals
  • Hi everyone,

recently I was developing bluetooth joystick for Basecam gimbals and it is ready for sale. It should be interesting for jib operators. Here are some features:

    - Control two axes with joystick very precisely (Usually pitch and yaw)
    - Change settings: RC Speed Pitch, RC Speed Yaw, Follow Speed Pitch, Follow Speed Yaw, Angle of Roll axis
    - Change profiles remotely
    - Turn off motors (Very helpful for jib operators)
    - Reading info from gimbal: Voltage status of gimbal, Voltage status of joystick, Current mode, Error of stabilization, I2C errors
    - Internal battery - 1000mAH 3S (12 hours life-time)
    - Connector for external battery

You can find more information on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/253016969505
    What do you think?

  • Nice ! But I'd find it much more useful if it had a true three axis joystick so you could control pan, tilt, and roll all in real time. When the horizon is not level (like anytime you put side g-forces on the gimbal) it's a real pain to have to go into menus just to level the horizon. Why not just be able to twist
the joystick and level it during the shot ? This is how pro systems like Cineflex, Wescam, Flir, Shotover are set up. Perhaps one like this: "http://www.robotshop.com/en/3-axis-joystick-w-button.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlaC1ga_t1AIVViOBCh1s9Q3vEAQYASABEgKC6fD_BwE"
  • Thank you stevecassidy for your suggestion. It won't be difficult to replace current 2-axis joystick with 3-axis. I'll consider to make also 3-axis version.

As most of people don't care about roll I decided to make first version with only 2 axis.
  • That would be great ReNNo....if you decide to build one, I will buy it !
