I turned on my Pilotfly H2 briefly without a load.

    Now the gimbal won't stop spinning. Everything I've seen on the Google points to turning on the gimbal without a load severely damages the motors.

    Is my 1 week old purchase dead?

    Turning gimbal on without load for short time will not damage motors. If your motors did not get very hot, they where not damaged by it.

    It is some other problem you are having.
