Balance issue on custom frame roll axis
  • I'm having some issues with balancing the roll axis on my custom GoPro gimbal frame, that I'm having a hard time understanding. The pitch axis is balanced (stays at released position). With the roll axis the GoPro and motor are level, horizontal to the ground. However, when I rotate it either direction (clockwise or counterclockwise), it wants to return to level/horizontal, instead of staying at the position it was released at!? Can anyone shed some light on this?
  • After looking at a DYS gimbal I have here, I'm wondering now if this may be normal, and that my roll motor just has less cogging than the DYS motors?
  • The roll should be balanced also. Look that the axis angles are 90 degrees, the motor axis is not flexing and that the roll axis is at the centre of gravity of the pitch assembly + camera. Not attached too low or too high.
  • Okay, that's good to know. I'll keep trying!
