What is the number of magnets?

    I am not sure which number is to be set in "NUM.POLES". My motor has 24 coils (electric magnets) and 28 magnetic iron plates (permanent magnets). I would all of them consider as "magnets" and as "poles". So - which of both numbers should be entered in the settings?

    You are over complicating it. the magnets are the permanentl magnets not the "electrical magnets". i.e. NUM.POLES are the number of neodymium magnets on the motor.

    Thankyou very much. Good that I asked because I used the number of coils all the time. I wonder why my gimbal worked anyway...

    It is important to have it right when using estimate angles from motors, but it will work with slightly of values also, just not as good.
